Privacy policy
Last updated: 03 July 2026. This notice covers the bookenu.com website and the BookEnu early-access programme.
Who we are
BookEnu is a product of EnuSoft Ltd (Companies House no. 17316693), registered at 1 Mile End Road, Colwick, Nottingham, NG4 2DW, United Kingdom. EnuSoft Ltd is the “data controller” for personal data collected through this website and the BookEnu early-access programme. You can reach us about privacy at info@bookenu.com.
What personal data we collect
- Enquiry and early-access details — your name, email address, practice or company name, and anything you choose to include when you contact us or apply for early access.
- Account data — the details needed to set up and support your BookEnu account during early access.
- Support chat — messages and contact details you provide if you use the EnuChat live-chat widget on this site.
- Technical data — information your browser sends automatically, such as IP address, device and browser type, and server request logs, used to keep the site secure and working.
- Cookie data — see “Cookies” below and our Cookie policy.
We do not intentionally collect special-category data through this website. Please don’t send us sensitive personal information in your enquiries.
How we use your data and our lawful bases
Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for using your personal data. We rely on the following:
- To reply to your enquiries and assess fit for early access — our legitimate interest in responding to you and running the early-access programme, or steps taken at your request before entering an agreement.
- To set up, provide and support your BookEnu account — performance of our arrangement with you and our legitimate interest in supporting and improving the product.
- To run live-chat support — our legitimate interest in offering help through the EnuChat widget, which is available on every page.
- To keep the site secure and reliable — our legitimate interest in protecting our website and preventing misuse.
- Marketing emails, where we send them — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to run the site, and our EnuChat live-chat support widget loads on every page and sets its own cookies. Any genuinely optional cookies (such as analytics) stay off unless you opt in, and you can review your choices at any time. Full details are in our Cookie policy.
Who we share it with
We share personal data only with service providers (“processors”) who help us operate, and only as needed. These currently include:
- Email delivery — to send and receive email relating to your enquiry or account.
- Live-chat support — EnuChat, a fellow product of EnuSoft Ltd, if you use the chat widget.
- Hosting and infrastructure — providers that host this website and store data securely.
We may also disclose data if required by law, to establish or defend legal claims, or in connection with a business reorganisation. Any client bookkeeping data processed inside the BookEnu application is governed by the separate agreement with your practice, under which we act as your processor.
International transfers
We aim to keep personal data within the UK or the European Economic Area. Where a provider processes data outside the UK, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place — such as UK “adequacy” regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement (or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
How long we keep it
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above. Enquiry and early-access correspondence is kept while we’re in contact and for a reasonable period afterwards; account data is kept for the life of your account and then deleted or anonymised, subject to any legal retention obligations.
How we protect your data
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls and reputable hosting — to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- be informed about how we use your data (this notice);
- access a copy of your personal data;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing;
- data portability, where processing is based on consent or a contract and carried out by automated means;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To exercise any of these, email info@bookenu.com and we’ll respond within the timescales the law allows (normally one month). Withdrawing consent doesn’t affect processing already carried out.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll change the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, tell you where appropriate.
